Souvenir Celluloid Pinbacks
Manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag Co.
Universal distributed millions of celluloid pins and mirrors though local theatre exchanges that helped to publicize the Broken Coin serial. The pins were given out to theatre goers and the mirrors were sold at concession stands along with the Wentz stamp albums and "Broken Coin" tokens. Most pins and mirrors were manufactured by The Whitehead and Hoag Co. Newark, N. J. There are some rare examples of special order mirrors that were purchased by theatre owners with their names printed below the Broken Coin image. These were manufactured by the Parisian Novelty Co. Chicago Ill. and are the rarest of all the celluloid items that were manufactured for the "Broken Coin" serial.
